About Us
Dr Shin first obtained his certification in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery in 2001. The American Board of Surgery is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to assess the qualifications of individuals in the field of surgery, and is one of the 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The ABS offers primary board certification in surgery (general surgery) and vascular surgery, and secondary certification in several related specialties. Approximately 34,000 surgeons are currently board certified by the ABS.
Valley Vascular Associates also maintains RVT certification. The RVT certification, offered by APCA’s (Alliance for Physician Certification and Advancement), raises the standard of vascular ultrasound practice worldwide and promotes best practices for enhanced patient safety. The RVT certification is designed to certify medical professionals in the vascular ultrasound field. By earning the RVT certification, healthcare professionals gain a critical edge in promoting public safety in vascular ultrasound.
To obtain the RVT certification, you must meet the examination prerequisites and pass the Vascular Technology (VT) specialty examination and the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination.
